On June 13 (local time), U.S. President Donald Trump stated that he thought Israel's attack on Iran was "excellent," and urged Iran to "enter into a nuclear agreement with the United States before it's too late."
According to ABC News, President Trump said in a phone interview with an ABC News reporter that he thought Israel's attack on Iran was "excellent."
According to the report, President Trump said, "We gave them (Iran) a chance, and they did not accept it," adding, "They were hit very hard, and there is more to come."
President Trump also posted on his social networking service, Truth Social, addressing Iran: "There has already been tremendous death and destruction, but there is still time to end this massacre," and warned, "The next attacks, which are already planned, will be even more brutal."
He further stated, "Iran must reach an agreement before there is nothing left," and added, "You must preserve what was once known as the Persian Empire."
He went on to say that he had repeatedly warned that military action would be taken if Iran did not conclude nuclear negotiations, and added, "The hardliners in Iran did not know what would happen," and "They are all dead now, and things will only get worse."
Nuclear negotiations between Iran and the United States, which have stalled over Iran's uranium enrichment facilities at the center of its nuclear program, were scheduled to resume on June 15 in Muscat, Oman. However, Israel launched an airstrike on Iran in the early hours of this day, two days before the nuclear talks between the two countries were set to resume.
