Gwangju University’s Department of Architecture announced on June 13 that it recently held the second special lecture in the "Expert Invitation Relay Lecture Series," focusing on AI and architectural design.
The special lecture was held on June 5 in the small auditorium on the third floor of Hosimgwan at Honam University. The event featured Professor Park Namyong (Ph.D. in Architectural Engineering), who is responsible for practical training at a professional mutual aid association and has integrated BIM, metaverse, and artificial intelligence (AI) into architectural design and education. The lecture was presented under the sub-theme "Changes in Architectural Design Visualization and Collaboration Connected by AI and the Metaverse."
The lecture systematically examined changes in architectural design and communication methods, covering topics from the concept of architecture to the evolution of visualization tools, as well as the latest AI tools and the metaverse. In particular, demonstration videos showcasing the use of AI-based design tools received an enthusiastic response from students. At the end of the lecture, an active Q&A session addressed students’ questions.
A representative from Gwangju University’s Department of Architecture stated, "Every semester, we invite various experts to hold regular special lectures," adding, "Through the two special lectures held in the first semester of this year, we are committed to fostering creative, practice-oriented architects by providing a broad perspective on future technologies and industrial changes."
