Utilizing the Official Character of the Gimcheon Gimbap Festival

Gimcheon City in North Gyeongsang Province will hold a souvenir contest featuring "Kkodari," the official character of the Gimcheon Gimbap Festival.
This initiative aims to enhance the festival's symbolism and present a more approachable image to tourists.
According to Gimcheon City, the contest was planned to elevate the brand value of the Gimcheon Gimbap Festival and to discover tourism souvenirs that reflect the unique identity of the region.
"Kkodari" is a character derived from the Gyeongsang dialect word "kkodari," which refers to the end piece of gimbap, and is used as the symbol of the festival.
The contest theme is "Creative souvenirs using the Gimcheon Gimbap Festival character Kkodari." Any individual or group capable of producing a tangible item can participate. Entries will be accepted for three days, from July 2 to July 4. Participants must submit their physical entries and application documents either in person or by mail to the Tourism Promotion Division at Gimcheon City Hall.
A total of six works will be selected. Winners will receive both prize money and actual product purchase support. The Grand Prize (one entry) includes 3 million won in prize money and 4.5 million won for product purchase; the Excellence Prize (two entries) includes 2 million won in prize money and 3 million won for product purchase per winner; the Encouragement Prize (three entries) includes 1 million won in prize money and 1.5 million won for product purchase per winner.
The selected works will be sold as actual products at the Gimcheon Gimbap Festival and at local consignment sales outlets.
Park Mijeong, head of the Tourism Promotion Division, stated, "Kkodari is a unique character that captures the local flavor, and we look forward to seeing various commercialization possibilities through this contest. We hope for many creative and practical ideas to be submitted."
