At 4:00 p.m. on June 11, a public servant training session was held in the main conference room of City Hall, with Son Myungwon, former CEO of Hyundai Mipo Dockyard, invited to speak on the topic "We Need a Challenging Spirit."

During the lecture, former CEO Son received an enthusiastic response as he shared vivid personal experiences based on his family's legacy of challenge, including Pastor Son Jeongdo, an independence activist who served as chairman of the Provisional Government's National Assembly, and Admiral Son Wonil, the first Chief of Naval Operations.

He emphasized, "True challenge is the attitude of not being dominated by circumstances and conditions, but putting one's own ideas into practice," and added, "Public officials who are not afraid of change and respond proactively will become the driving force for municipal innovation."

In particular, he introduced examples of overcoming the global financial crisis and the shipbuilding industry recession during his tenure as CEO of Hyundai Mipo Dockyard, presenting to public officials the importance of flexible thinking and action-oriented leadership that creates opportunities even in times of crisis.

Former CEO Son stated, "The public sector, like private companies, is in the midst of rapid change," and stressed, "It is urgently required to break away from conventional frameworks and adopt creative and proactive thinking for the benefit of citizens."

Mayor Shin Hyunguk said, "I hope that through the lecture by former CEO Son Myungwon, who is known as an icon of challenge, public officials will have an opportunity to reconsider the meaning of their work and reflect on themselves," and added, "I look forward to seeing Mungyeong City continue to evolve into an organization that constantly changes and embraces challenges."
