The Daegu Regional Office of Patriots and Veterans Affairs (Director Kim Jongsul), in collaboration with Daegu City and organized by the Daegu branch of the Korea Special Mission Veterans Association, will hold the 12th Dalgubeol Veterans Culture Festival at the Daegu 2·28 Memorial Central Park on June 14, in celebration of June, the Month of Patriots and Veterans.
Marking its 12th year, the Dalgubeol Veterans Culture Festival is Daegu’s representative veterans culture event, designed to allow local residents to naturally experience and share the value of honoring patriots and veterans. The festival features a variety of performances and hands-on programs.
The event will begin at 6:00 p.m. with an opening performance by the 50th Division military band. This will be followed by a play highlighting the life of local national defense hero, the late Major Lee Inho, performed by actor Lee Jaeseon. The first part will conclude with a precision performance by the honor guard of the 2nd Operations Command.
The second part, the "Peace Music Festival," will officially begin at 7:00 p.m. The lineup includes the band Gochujamjari, known for engaging with the public through the YouTube channel "Beautiful Nerd," singer-songwriter Kim Pilseon, emotional vocalist Jaeha, the band Kano, and Sim Sangmyeong. These artists will share the "spirit of honoring patriots and veterans" with local youth through music.
A variety of hands-on programs will also be available. In the "Another National Representative Zone," there will be military equipment displays and survival experiences provided by the 50th Division and the 501st Brigade, CPR training by the Daegu Jungbu Fire Station, police motorcycle ride experiences, and uniform experience booths. The Ministry of National Defense Agency for KIA Recovery and Identification will hold an exhibition of relics and photographs of Korean War fallen soldiers, encouraging reflection on the traces and significance of the war.
Starting at 12:00 p.m. on the same day, the "Festival Jam Flea Market" will also take place. Part of the proceeds will be used to support the welfare of national merit recipients.
Kim Jongsul, Director of the Daegu Regional Office of Patriots and Veterans Affairs, stated, "I hope that the meaning of honoring patriots and veterans will be conveyed naturally in daily life, rather than through rigid formalities, through this festival." He added, "I especially hope that this will be an opportunity for youths and local residents to participate joyfully while also reflecting on the sacrifices of those who dedicated themselves to the nation."
