A Garden of Light Along the Canal
Nine Days of Festivities from June 14 to 22
The core program of the Pohang International Fireworks Festival, 'Light Art Way,' will take place for nine days from June 14 to June 22 along the Pohang Canal.
'Light Art Way' goes beyond a simple spectacle, aiming to strengthen Pohang's unique identity as a city of light. It will transform urban spaces with distinctive designs and a variety of light art genres, illuminating summer nights.
This nighttime landscape light art event, themed 'Canal of Flowing Light,' is designed so that visitors can stroll along the Pohang Canal and naturally enjoy the art installations as they walk.
In particular, a variety of attractions such as light installations, media facades, and interactive light experience programs will captivate visitors' attention.
Colorful light installations will be set up throughout the Pohang Canal area, transforming everyday spaces into art spaces and brightly lighting up summer nights.
Additionally, media facades utilizing urban spaces and steel art pieces have been prepared.
The Flower Tree will feature dynamic and vibrant light displays, and various media facade contents will be projected onto the canal's surrounding walls.
Notably, content combining AI technology with historical photographs of the Pohang Canal area will evoke nostalgia among citizens, and an exhibition will showcase works by local artists active in Pohang, reinterpreted as video art.
Experience programs for families will also be offered free of charge.
During the festival, ongoing free activities such as 'Light Experience,' 'Family and Couple Experience,' and the 'Temperature of Love Heart (Photo Zone)' will be available. In addition, the participatory program 'Shining Today and Tomorrow,' where citizens and artists collaborate, will run from June 17 to June 19.
Furthermore, the 'Canal Market' flea market and a variety of fringe performances will be held around the Pohang Canal on June 20 and June 21, adding to the festive atmosphere.
Lee Sangmo, CEO of the Pohang Cultural Foundation, stated, "Light Art Way along the Pohang Canal will be a special opportunity to experience art in everyday spaces," and added, "I hope everyone enjoys the charm of Pohang on a summer night as you walk with the light."
