A Healing Space for Physical and Mental Recovery in the Spotlight

On June 12, the city of Gwangyang, South Jeolla Province, announced that it will expand the operation of forest healing programs at the Baegunsan Healing Forest.

Located on the slopes of Gwangyang Baegunsan, which is regarded as one of the most prominent mountains in southern Korea, the Baegunsan Healing Forest offers a variety of forest healing programs such as meditation, breathing exercises, forest gymnastics, and foot baths, all set against a backdrop of lush forests filled with cedar and oak trees. This healing space is gaining popularity as a place for physical and mental recovery and relaxation.

Since 2019, the Baegunsan Healing Forest has operated a range of forest healing programs. The recent decision to expand these programs was made in response to the increase in visitors and the positive feedback from users regarding the effects of forest healing.

The Baegunsan Healing Forest operates twice daily. With this expansion, additional indoor healing programs such as foot baths, aromatherapy (oil foot massage), and relaxation meditation will be offered indoors every Tuesday through Friday. Reservations for the forest healing programs can be made through the Baegunsan Healing Forest website.

Shim Hyunwoo, Director of the Gwangyang City Recreation Forest Division, said, "We are pleased to be able to offer visitors a wider variety of forest healing opportunities through this expansion," adding, "We will continue to provide high-quality programs as a leading forest healing destination in South Jeolla Province."
