Accelerating the Training of Future Talent in Healthcare and ICT Convergence
Central University announced on the 17th that its College of Medicine and College of Software have been selected for the "2025 Medical Artificial Intelligence Specialized Convergence Talent Training Project," organized by the Ministry of Health and Welfare and the Korea Health Industry Development Institute.
The Medical Artificial Intelligence Specialized Convergence Talent Training Project aims to foster convergence talent capable of integrating artificial intelligence technologies into specialized bio-health fields, thereby promoting industrial innovation and improving the quality of healthcare. Central University will receive up to 4.75 billion KRW in research funding over the next five years.
Central University plans to establish a systematic talent development system spanning undergraduate, master's, and doctoral programs, with a particular focus on producing core talent.
In addition, the university will operate a medical artificial intelligence program certification system in the undergraduate curriculum through collaboration between the College of Medicine, College of Software, the university hospital, and related domestic and international industries. Furthermore, the graduate school of the College of Medicine will introduce master's and doctoral programs in medical artificial intelligence.
Kim Chanwoong, a professor at the College of Medicine and head of the project group, stated, "Through collaboration among the university, the hospital, and the domestic and international industry, we expect to establish Central University as a hub for cultivating talent that will lead the new era of innovation in the future of medicine."
Meanwhile, Central University has established a graduate school of artificial intelligence in preparation for the AI era and was the first in Korea to promote research in artificial intelligence humanities.
