Yongin City Asks Citizens to Choose the New City Symbol Design

Preference Survey for CI and BI to Be Conducted Until June 29

Yongin City in Gyeonggi Province announced on June 12 that it will conduct a citizen preference survey until June 29 to develop a new integrated symbol (CI·BI) that embodies the city's identity and future vision.

The purpose of this survey is to develop an integrated symbol that combines the symbol mark (CI) used since 1997 and the city brand (BI) developed in 2004.

The city plans to actively reflect the opinions of citizens who participate in the survey in order to select a symbol that is suitable from the citizens' perspective and to complete a symbol that can express the city's future and growth potential.

Previously, since March last year, the city developed candidate designs for the symbol through citizen participation processes such as a design contest and the operation of a citizen design group. Among the candidate designs, one was created by the citizen design group and won an award in the design contest.

Citizens can participate in the preference survey through a Naver Form survey available on the Yongin Special City website, blog, social networking services (SNS), and apartment media boards. Participation is also possible in person at designated locations such as City Hall, district offices, light rail and subway stations, and major tourist attractions.

Participants are asked to select one out of three proposed symbol designs that they think is most appropriate. The design that reflects citizens' opinions will later be made public after review by the Symbol Management Committee and the relevant ordinance amendment process.

A city official stated, "We expect that this preference survey will help gather citizens' interest in the city brand and provide an opportunity to communicate with citizens to design the city's future."
