This activity was the second on-site volunteering event conducted as part of the 'Nongchonieum (Urban-Rural Connection)' agreement signed last year between Deloitte Anjin and Saenggeuk Nonghyup. It is part of ongoing efforts to build sustainable connections between urban and rural communities. The employees contributed to addressing the rural labor shortage by taking on the task of wrapping peaches, processing approximately 3,500 wrappers.
A representative from Saenggeuk Nonghyup stated, "This year, the allocation of foreign seasonal workers was delayed by about three weeks, making packaging labor urgently needed," and added, "Today, corporate volunteering is not just a good deed, but an activity directly linked to the survival of farms."
Deloitte Anjin has been actively engaged in various social service activities each year to fulfill the social responsibility of professionals. Since 2011, the company has focused on social contribution activities targeting vulnerable regions. In addition to rural volunteer work, employees are also actively involved in talent donation activities to support children and youth, foster future talent, and create a positive impact on society.
Shin Geumho, Managing Director of Deloitte Anjin, who oversaw the event, said, "Starting the day at the earliest hour in the countryside is the starting point for experiencing ESG practices in daily life," and added, "We will continue to expand our volunteering efforts, believing that the small efforts of urban companies are a lifeline for rural communities."
Deloitte Anjin plans to expand its support to grape and apple farms in the second half of the year, and further to rice and field crop sectors next year, with the aim of establishing a sustainable win-win model between urban and rural areas.
