LX Hausys Obtains Environmental Label Certification for 'Flame Retardant Interior Film'

Achieving Resource Circulation with Sustainable Materials
Fire Safety Certified Both Domestically and Internationally

On June 12, LX Hausys announced that its 'LX Z:IN Flame Retardant Interior Film' has obtained the 'Environmental Label Certification' from the Ministry of Environment.

Interior film is a surface finishing material with an adhesive backing, allowing it to be easily applied to walls, furniture, and doors. It is widely used not only in commercial spaces but also in residential settings. LX Hausys received the certification by incorporating both flame retardant performance and eco-friendly features into this product.

This Environmental Label Certification is granted after evaluating the product’s environmental attributes, such as reducing hazardous substances in the manufacturing process and using raw materials that enable resource circulation. LX Hausys replaced the release liner material on the back of the interior film from conventional PE (polyethylene) to a clay-based paper material, thereby reducing waste and creating a recyclable structure.

In addition, the flame retardant interior film has been officially recognized for its fire safety performance both domestically and internationally. By mixing flame retardants into the raw materials at an appropriate ratio, the film itself becomes flame retardant. In the event of a fire, a char layer forms on the surface, preventing the spread of heat. With this technology, the product has passed the flame retardant performance test by the Korea Fire Institute (KFI), obtained European CE certification, and received the International Maritime Organization (IMO) MED certification, making it suitable as a material for both buildings and ships.

Meanwhile, LX Hausys has recently enhanced the design diversity of its flame retardant interior film. The company launched a total of 103 new colors reflecting the latest trends, including premium wood series with realistic grain texture and feel, soft matte solid colors, and high-end metallic series.

A company representative stated, "With the entire lineup of interior films now certified not only for flame retardant performance but also with the Environmental Label Certification, we are able to further strengthen consumer trust." The representative added, "Since the fire incident on Seoul Subway Line 5, there has been increased interest in finishing materials that prevent the spread of fire. Our products, which ensure both eco-friendliness and safety, are expected to attract significant attention in the market."
