Joint Chiefs of Staff: "Closely Monitoring North Korea's Related Developments"
While the South Korean military has suspended loudspeaker broadcasts toward North Korea, it was found that as of June 12, North Korea has not conducted any noise broadcasts toward the South.
The Joint Chiefs of Staff stated on June 12, "There are no areas today where North Korea's noise broadcasts toward the South have been detected," and added, "We are closely monitoring related developments in North Korea."
Previously, the military halted loudspeaker broadcasts toward North Korea at 2 p.m. the previous day, following President Lee Jaemyung's directive.
A military official explained, "North Korea's noise broadcasts toward the South varied in content and operating hours by region," and added, "The last such broadcast was detected late last night on the western front, and there have been none since then."
