As the new administration prepares a supplementary budget (extra budget), Im Gi Geun, Vice Minister of Strategy and Finance, stated, "We will structure the supplementary budget with projects that can achieve two objectives: economic revitalization and stabilization of people's livelihoods." He added, "Even as we proceed swiftly, we will carefully and efficiently review the process while continuously assessing its practical effects."

Vice Minister Im made these remarks during his visit to the central press room at the Government Sejong Complex on the afternoon of the 11th. Having been appointed as the first Vice Minister under the Lee Jaemyung administration, which is focusing on preparing the supplementary budget at the very start of its term, he emphasized, "We are working very hard to prepare the supplementary budget."
Vice Minister Im explained, "We are focusing on three key areas as we prepare the supplementary budget." Specifically, he said, "Given the exceptionally difficult economic situation, we intend to proceed with a sense of urgency." He continued, "Since various economic indicators such as actual consumption, construction, and investment are not showing favorable trends, we will keep this in mind as we identify necessary projects to help revitalize the economy." He also added the condition, "It must directly benefit the people who are experiencing real difficulties due to the challenging economy."
Vice Minister Im stated, "It is true that our economy is facing unprecedented difficulties," and shared his thoughts upon taking office: "We will ensure that fiscal policy diligently fulfills its necessary role in responding to the economic crisis, discovering new growth engines, driving structural change, and restoring the community." He went on to say, "All employees at the Ministry of Strategy and Finance are working with a heightened sense of crisis and will do their utmost," and requested, "Please support us so that the efforts of our staff can yield tangible results."
