On June 11, Changwon National University held an unveiling ceremony for the Songwon Hall plaque at the auditorium on the first floor of the 2nd Student Union Building (COSS).
Songwon Hall is named after the pen name 'Songwon (松元)' of Chungkyeong Choi, chairman of Gyeongnam Steel Co., Ltd. The hall expresses respect and gratitude to Chairman Choi, who has donated more than 1 billion KRW to the university development fund.

According to Changwon National University, Chairman Choi has served as president of the university's alumni association, chairman of the supporters' association, and honorary president. Over the past 30 years, he has contributed 1.27 billion KRW to the university development fund and has consistently contributed to the university's development and the cultivation of future generations.
He currently serves as chairman of the Social Integration Committee of Gyeongsangnam-do, and has previously held key roles such as chairman of the Changwon Chamber of Commerce and Industry and vice chairman of the National Unification Advisory Council, playing a pivotal role in the local community.
The unveiling ceremony for Songwon Hall was attended by Chairman Choi, Seokwoo Choi, CEO of Gyeongnam Steel, President Minwon Park, university executives, and students.
Along with the unveiling ceremony, the plaque ceremony for the 2nd Student Union Building (COSS) and the opening ceremony for the counseling center were also held, adding significance to the event.
President Park stated, "I hope that Chairman Songwon Choi Chungkyeong's valuable contributions to Changwon National University will be remembered as a proud name alongside our university's shining history," and added, "We have engraved the chairman's noble intentions on the plaque so that they will be honored forever."
He continued, "Going forward, our university will do its utmost to fulfill the public role and responsibility of a regional national university, in line with the high ideals and values of those who have contributed to the university development fund."
