Nomination Period Until the 16th
Office of the President: "High Public Interest in Talented Individuals for Prosecutorial Reform and Welfare Policies"
The Office of the President announced that a total of 11,324 nominations were received on the first day of the National Recommendation System's implementation. The National Recommendation System allows citizens to nominate key public officials, such as ministers, vice ministers, and heads of public institutions, who can be appointed by the president. The nomination period runs until June 16.
Kang Yoojeong, spokesperson for the Office of the President, stated during a briefing at the Yongsan presidential office on this day, "Public interest in the 'Finding the Real Workers Project,' which began yesterday as part of the National Recommendation System, is very high."
Spokesperson Kang explained, "Approximately 9,900 nominations were submitted through the National Recommendation System operated by the Ministry of Personnel Management, and about 1,400 were received via the official email." She added, "The positions that received the most nominations were Minister of Justice, Minister of Health and Welfare, and Prosecutor General, in that order."
She further commented, "This demonstrates the high level of public interest in finding talented individuals who can advance prosecutorial reform?a key task for the new administration?and implement welfare policies that have a direct impact on people's lives."
Anyone can participate in the National Recommendation System by posting a nomination on the system's website operated by the Ministry of Personnel Management, or by using President Lee Jaemyung's official social network service (SNS) accounts or email. The submitted nominations are compiled into a database and then undergo personnel verification and public vetting by the Office of Public Discipline at the Office of the President. Once a suitable candidate is selected, the process moves on to the appointment stage.
