The Namwon City ECO Smart Farm Industrial District will cover a total area of 60.4 hectares, with an investment of 93.8 billion won over five years (2025?2029). The plan is to sequentially implement six core projects: long-term lease-type smart farms, a large-scale smart farm startup complex, a smart farm innovation complex, an eco-friendly energy town, a smart horticulture complex, and a smart education and demonstration complex.

This district is characterized by having the nation's top-level horticultural industry infrastructure and collaborating with the Namwon City Cooperative Joint Business Corporation, which is the largest integrated marketing organization in Korea, to establish a full-cycle smart agriculture system encompassing production, distribution, processing, and education.

In particular, the district aims to attract 50 young startup farming households and 15 related companies, thereby building a sustainable growth ecosystem for smart agriculture. The city expects a 30% increase in the income of smart agriculture farmers.

With this designation, the city plans to collaborate with private partners such as Pacific Investment Management to create a large-scale startup smart farm complex, and to support youth job creation and settlement through facilities such as the smart APC and demonstration complexes. In addition, the city plans to establish community facilities and lay the foundation for increasing residents' income through the eco-friendly energy town.

Mayor Choi Kyungsik stated, "The designation of this agro-bio industrial district is an important milestone for Namwon to leap forward as the capital of Korea's agro-bio industry," and added, "We will foster Namwon as a regionally customized smart agriculture hub city that attracts young people and companies, creating a new model for sustainable future agriculture."

Meanwhile, this is the first case of designating agro-bio industrial districts in Jeonbuk, involving a total investment of 215.5 billion won across three districts (Namwon, Jinan, and Gochang), including Namwon City. The districts are expected to serve as a catalyst for the advancement of agriculture and revitalization of the local economy in the future.
