Sinsamat Michelin, Starlight Street, and Youth Arcade Events to Be Held in Succession
Throughout June, Gwanak-gu in Seoul will host a series of festivals aimed at revitalizing local alleyway commercial districts, injecting new energy into the local economy.
On June 14, from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., the entire commercial area of Sinsamatgil (a 230-meter section along Nangok-ro 66-gil and Gwanchon-ro 11-gil) will hold the culinary festival "The 2nd Sinsamat Michelin." The festival will feature "Taste of Sinsa," where visitors can sample signature dishes from Sinsamatgil in one place; unique "pop-up restaurants"; stage performances such as busking and Nanta percussion by youth art clubs; free game events; and a social media challenge, among various interactive programs. The festival will also include landscape lighting to enhance the nighttime atmosphere, as well as a camping-themed relaxation zone.
On June 20, from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., the "2025 Sillim-dong Starlight Street Festival (Sillim Starlight Street NEON Festival)" will take place in the Sillim-dong-gil area (from the entrance of Starlight Street in front of 373 Sillim-ro to the intersection at 37 Sillim-dong-gil).
The event will feature a media art zone themed around city lights, food booths offering pincho and potato dishes for a variety of culinary experiences, DJ and busking performances with retro-futuristic and neon-punk vibes, and neon experience booths such as UV fluorescent tattoos and glow-in-the-dark paint masks. In particular, the festival will be linked with the International Garden Expo held at Boramae Park, providing visitors with an even richer array of sights and activities.
On June 21, the "Sharosugil Youth Arcade Local Event" will be held in Sharosugil (22?111 Gwanak-ro 14-gil), Gwanak-gu's signature local brand district, as well as in the area around Nakseongdae Park (6 Bongcheon-ro 62-gil to Gwanak Lifelong Education Center).
The event will be organized around five themes, including nostalgic arcade games and the latest games tailored to young people's tastes, group games, street performances, and local brand programs in collaboration with Nakseongdae Park. A local garden photo zone centered on hydrangeas will also be set up in Nakseongdae Park. In addition, there will be a variety of games such as dalgona making and cornhole, as well as a hands-on event for single-person households, hosted by the youth venture company "Plog."
During the festival period, the district will install specialized lighting above Sharosugil and plans to expand it throughout the entire area in the future to further boost the nighttime economy.
Park Junhee, Mayor of Gwanak-gu, said, "We have prepared a wide range of content so that many residents and visitors can create joyful memories and be drawn back to Gwanak-gu's alleyway commercial districts through these vibrant June festivals. We will continue to do our utmost to develop specialized content and support measures that will invigorate the local commercial scene."
