HL Mando and Fire Insurers Laboratories to Commercialize Electric Spark Detection Sensor "e-HAECHIE"

"Expected to Become a Game Changer in Electric Fire Prevention"

On June 11, HL Mando announced that it had signed an agreement with the Fire Insurers Laboratories, which operates under the Fire Insurance Association, to establish a "Joint Research Open Lab." The signing ceremony, held on May 30 at the Fire Insurers Laboratories in Yeoju, Gyeonggi Province, was attended by HL Mando Vice President Bae Hongyong, Fire Insurers Laboratories Director Jang Younghwan, and other officials.

The two organizations have agreed to collaborate on the commercialization of the "e-HAECHIE" electric spark sensor, which is being recognized as a game changer in electric fire prevention.

e-HAECHIE detects specific wavelengths of arcs and immediately alerts when early signs of electrical fire are present. Because the control center can respond quickly, it is considered fundamentally different from conventional heat and smoke detection sensors.

e-HAECHIE can be applied to high-power systems such as energy storage systems (ESS), infrastructure systems like data centers, and electric vehicle charging stations. According to market research firm MarketsandMarkets, the global fire detector market is expected to reach $33.5 billion (approximately 45.8 trillion won) in 2025, and is projected to grow by more than 6% annually through 2035.

Bae Hongyong, Vice President of HL Mando, stated, "e-HAECHIE is currently undergoing demonstration stages with various companies," and added, "Through research collaboration with the Fire Insurers Laboratories to ensure technological reliability, we are confident that it will become a game changer in fire prevention."
