Two New Hongcho Products Transitioned to Functional Labeling Foods
Contains Indigestible Maltodextrin to Help Suppress Postprandial Blood Sugar Spikes
Expanding Beyond Drinking Vinegar into the Fermentation-Based Health Beverage Market
Daesang announced on the 11th that two new low-sugar, low-calorie Hongcho products under the Cheongjeongwon "LOWTAG" brand have been converted into functional labeling foods through voluntary review of functional labeling food advertisements.
Last month, the low-sugar, low-calorie Hongcho products "Red Apple" and "Lemon Lime" were launched with reduced sugar and calorie content. Recently, these products underwent voluntary review for functional labeling food advertisements by the Korea Food Industry Association and have been converted into functional labeling foods. Both products contain indigestible maltodextrin, which is known to help suppress postprandial blood sugar spikes, and aloe gel, which is known to support gut health, boost immunity, and promote skin health.
The Hongcho lineup has been further strengthened as the existing products, such as pomegranate, blueberry, and bokbunja, which contain aloe gel known for supporting gut health, immunity, and skin health, are now joined by two low-sugar, low-calorie products?Red Apple and Lemon Lime (low-sugar)?which also contain aloe gel and indigestible maltodextrin, known for helping to suppress postprandial blood sugar spikes.
The two new products, "Red Apple" and "Lemon & Lime," recorded approximately 2.5 billion KRW in sales within about one month of their launch.
Celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, Hongcho plans to expand its identity beyond a simple drinking vinegar to a fermentation-based health beverage, leveraging Cheongjeongwon's fermentation expertise.
