Seo Jungwook, a conservative political commentator and lawyer, claimed that former Daegu Mayor Hong Junpyo said he wanted to create a sensation together with former Reform New Party presidential candidate Lee Junseok.
On June 10, Seo appeared on YTN Radio's "News FM Lee Ikseon Choi Sooyoung Issue & People" and stated, "Just as if he is spitting into the well he used to drink from, former Mayor Hong is now fiercely criticizing the People Power Party."
Seo continued, "Based on what I have gathered and heard, it seems that next year, he plans to form a new party with Lee Junseok to reorganize the conservative bloc. Their aim is to make the People Power Party disappear into history, and to establish a new party in which he himself becomes the mainstream, together with Lee Junseok, next year. I have also heard that he dreams of becoming the Mayor of Seoul."
He added, "So the plan is for him to run for Seoul Mayor, and for Lee Junseok to run for Governor of Gyeonggi Province, with the idea of creating a political wave and reshaping the conservative landscape. His close aides are openly discussing this. According to his closest advisors, the People Power Party is a party that will disappear, and since they cannot join forces with Han Donghoon, they are seeking to create a new party with Lee Junseok to stir things up."
Meanwhile, former Daegu Mayor Hong Junpyo continues to criticize the People Power Party on a daily basis, but he is also drawing a clear line regarding joining the Reform New Party. Through his Facebook page and the communication channel "Dream of Youth," Hong has stated, "The rumor about joining the Reform New Party is groundless," and "The People Power Party will begin the process of dissolution. Be prepared."
