Samsung Active Asset Management announced on the 11th that the total net assets of its proprietary active ETF brand 'KoAct' have surpassed 400 billion KRW.
This milestone was achieved 22 months after the launch of Samsung Active Asset Management's first active ETF, 'KoAct Bio Healthcare Active,' on August 3, 2023. Among asset management companies with their own active ETF brands, this is the fastest achievement to date.
Based on its philosophy of "Investing in the Changes of the World," Samsung Active Asset Management has continuously launched Korea's first-ever active ETFs. By demonstrating strong active management capabilities that outperform benchmark index returns, the company has attracted significant market capital.
The major ETFs launched by Samsung Active Asset Management have outperformed the KOSPI over the past six months. During this period, the KOSPI rose by 18.78%, marking a relatively strong upward trend. Over the same period, the main domestic KoAct ETFs recorded the following returns: ▲KoAct AI Infra Active (28.02%) ▲KoAct Korea Value Up Active (22.74%) ▲KoAct Dividend Growth Active (19.86%) ▲KoAct Bio Healthcare Active (19.50%).
The performance compared to benchmark indices has also been outstanding. KoAct US Nasdaq Growth Companies Active, an active product based on the US Nasdaq Composite Index, has achieved an excess return of 2.06 percentage points (P) over the Nasdaq Composite Index since its listing. This is the result of actively managing the portfolio by identifying alpha stocks in line with innovative technology trends and changes among leading companies in the industry.
This year as well, Samsung Active Asset Management has continued to lead market trends by launching products such as KoAct US Nasdaq Growth Companies Active, KoAct Global Quantum Computing Active, and KoAct Broadcom Value Chain Active.
Last month, for the first time in Korea, the company exported its domestic active ETF management strategy to the US ETF market. Its partner, US ETF manager Amplify, listed the 'Amplify U.S. Natural Gas Infrastructure ETF (USNG),' a localized version of Samsung Active Asset Management's KoAct US Natural Gas Infrastructure Active, which was launched in December last year. USNG receives portfolio advisory services from Samsung Active Asset Management.
Suh Beomjin, Head of ETF Solutions at Samsung Active Asset Management, stated, "The US active ETF market is experiencing rapid growth, increasing by 51% annually. However, in the domestic market, active ETFs account for only about 8% of equity ETFs." He added, "We expect the equity active ETF market to continue to grow. Samsung Active Asset Management will leverage its accumulated active management capabilities and expertise to contribute to the growth of client assets through a variety of active ETF products and optimal portfolios."
