Updates to Roll Out Sequentially This Month
Voice Recognition and Mobile Settings Synchronization
Samsung Electronics is further enhancing the artificial intelligence (AI) features applied to its refrigerators.
On June 11, Samsung Electronics announced that it will begin rolling out a software update for the "Voice ID" feature to its 2025 Bespoke AI refrigerators equipped with touchscreens, starting later this month. The new "Voice ID" feature operates based on the AI voice assistant "Bixby." It distinguishes the voices of registered family members to provide personalized functions for each user, such as schedule management, photo access, mobile phone location tracking, and accessibility settings integration.

When a user stands in front of the refrigerator and says, "Bixby, tell me my schedule," the refrigerator recognizes the voice and displays that user's schedule. If the user asks to find their mobile phone, the refrigerator will ring the phone to indicate its location.
Additionally, when the refrigerator recognizes a user's voice, accessibility settings such as color inversion or grayscale, which have been set on the user's Galaxy smartphone, are automatically applied to the refrigerator's "AI Home" screen. This allows consumers with visual impairments or elderly users to conveniently use the refrigerator screen, which is synchronized with their smartphone settings.
Samsung Electronics has also enhanced the method for activating Bixby on its refrigerators. In addition to the existing "Hi Bixby" voice command, users can now activate Bixby by double-tapping the refrigerator's screen when it is turned off.
Samsung Electronics plans to expand the range of refrigerators equipped with the "Voice ID" feature, starting with updates for the 2025 "Bespoke AI Family Hub" and the "Bespoke AI Hybrid" refrigerator with a 9-inch screen.
Moon Jongseung, Executive Vice President of the DA Division at Samsung Electronics, stated, "We developed the Voice ID feature to provide a personalized 'AI Home' experience even on refrigerators used by the whole family," and added, "We will continue to provide home appliance software updates so that users can enjoy the latest features."
