This initiative marks the first step in revitalizing tourism through cycling, in line with Yeoju City's (Mayor Lee Chungwoo) policy of building a 'bicycle-friendly city.'

The Bicycle Tourism Guide Academy Course, the first of its kind in the country, is a program designed to train professional guides who will introduce visitors on cycling trips to local tourist attractions, cuisine, and experiential content. The course, held at the Yeoju Travel Center (Biketel), runs for six weeks and covers topics such as tourism interpretation, traffic safety, cycling skills, and practical tour course management. Graduates who pass both theoretical and practical evaluations will go on to work as guides for the 'Yeoju Bicycle City Tour.'

On the same day, the 'Yeoju Bicycle Festival' will take place at the Geumeunmorae Riverside area. A variety of programs are planned so that participants of all ages?including families, couples, and young children?can enjoy the event. These include multi-person family bicycle experiences, bicycle riding, a balance bike competition for young children, experiential booths, and a food zone.

In particular, the 'Family Bicycle Walk' program, which has received a strong response during pre-registration, and the lively 'Children's Balance Bike Competition' are expected to be the main highlights of this festival.

Meanwhile, starting with this festival, the foundation is planning a 'Bicycle Camping Festival' for the second half of the year, which will serve as 'Yeoju Bicycle Festival Season 2.' In addition, the 'Yeoju Bicycle City Tour' program, led directly by graduates of the Tourism Guide Academy, will also be officially launched.

Lee Sunyeol, President of the Yeoju Sejong Culture and Tourism Foundation, stated, "This year marks a turning point for Yeoju tourism, with the official opening of the Yeoju Namhangang Suspension Bridge and the declaration of 2025 as the 'Year of Yeoju Tourism.' We aim to provide even greater enjoyment to visitors with unique tourism content centered around bicycles."

He added, "We will continue to develop Yeoju's rich cultural and tourism resources in conjunction with cycling, evolving them into a sustainable tourism model."

Details on how to apply for the Tourism Bicycle Guide Academy Course and pre-register for the Yeoju Bicycle Festival can be found on the Yeoju Sejong Culture and Tourism Foundation website.
