Gyeonggi Province to Host 'Memory and Future' Paju Festa for 80th Anniversary of Liberation

The 'Memory and Future' Paju Festa, commemorating the 80th anniversary of Liberation, will be held over two days from June 14 to 15 at the Gyeonggi Future Education Paju Campus. The event is hosted by Gyeonggi Province and organized by the Gyeonggi Lifelong Education Promotion Agency.


Key events on June 14 include participatory programs such as creating a large Taegeukgi flag together with residents, a Daehan Independence Manse flash mob, a declaration of independence by resident representatives, and three cheers for independence. In particular, five students from Daeseongdong Elementary School will read the March 1st Declaration of Independence as representatives of the residents, adding significance to the event.


On June 15, history lecturer Choi Taesung will give a special lecture on the theme "Memories of That Day, and the Future."

Throughout the festival, more than 50 booths will be set up across the Paju Campus, including a Taegeukgi street and exhibition experience zone, a photo zone, the Daehan Independence Marble Game, and a Danjidongmaeng photo frame-making activity.


Additionally, visitors can enjoy a variety of attractions such as an exhibition and experience of independence heroes' quotes in typography, the Daehan Independence Golden Bell quiz, magic performances, street busking, a flea market, and the Gyeonggi Future Education Paju Campus's original English musical.


The event is open to everyone free of charge with on-site registration on the day of the festival. For more detailed schedules and information, visit the Danolja Paju Festa website (pajufesta.kr).


Kang Hyunseok, Director of the Gyeonggi Province Future Lifelong Education Bureau, stated, "I hope that through this event, held to mark the 80th anniversary of Liberation, participants can experience its historical significance and reflect on the future together," adding, "I also hope that the Gyeonggi Future Education Paju Campus will continue to play its role as a site for history education."
