Yangsan Branch of the Ministry of Employment and Labor Provides Intensive Labor Management Support for Small Businesses in Miryang

On-Site Preventive Inspections and Group Consulting
Correction of Over 43 Million KRW in Wage Arrears at 69 Small and Vulnerable Businesses in Miryang

The Ministry of Employment and Labor Yangsan Branch Office recently provided intensive on-site labor management support for small businesses and vulnerable industries in the Miryang area, where labor management practices are weak, as part of the "On-Site Preventive Inspection Day" week.

This inspection was conducted over a two-week period from May 19 to May 30. As a result of inspecting 49 businesses in the food, lodging, and wholesale and retail industries in Miryang during the "On-Site Preventive Inspection Day," the authorities identified 31 workplaces with wage arrears, such as unpaid overtime allowances, and issued correction orders for a total of 43.7 million KRW in unpaid wages.

In addition, "group labor management consulting" was provided to 20 small businesses to support the voluntary improvement of labor management practices in small-scale workplaces.

Previously, on May 15, the Yangsan Branch Office held a "Basic Labor Law Education" session at the Miryang Chamber of Commerce and Industry, targeting business owners and HR managers. The session focused on case studies, including ▲ wage arrears and ▲ prevention of workplace harassment and sexual harassment. On the same day, a campaign was also conducted on the streets near Miryang City Hall to promote compliance with the four basic labor orders and to prevent wage arrears.

Furthermore, from May 19 for one week, a "Mobile Labor Law Consultation Center" was operated, where labor inspectors provided one-on-one customized labor law consultations for business owners and others.

According to the Yangsan Branch Office, the "On-Site Preventive Inspection Day" is held five times a year for businesses with fewer than 30 employees. The next round of inspections will be conducted over two weeks from June 16 to June 27, targeting 81 workplaces, including those classified as high-risk for labor management issues.

Kwon Guhyung, head of the Ministry of Employment and Labor Yangsan Branch Office, stated, "We will strengthen practical support for improving labor management and provide labor law education and consulting for small businesses and vulnerable industries and regions. We will also respond strictly to wage arrears, including non-compliance with the minimum wage."
