"Transportation Convenience Greatly Improved" ... Changwon Special City Opens Road Between Jaeun 3 District and Pungho-dong The entire road section from Jaeun 3 District to Pungho-dong has been opened.

The road opening, which took place on June 5, 2025, was completed after approximately five years of large-scale construction that began on December 23, 2020.

A total budget of 43.8 billion won was invested in the project. Of this, 20.8 billion won was used for road construction costs, 17 billion won was allocated for land and building compensation, and 6 billion won was spent on design and administrative support expenses.

Before the road opened, travel between Jaeun 3 District and Pungho-dong required a long detour, causing significant inconvenience for residents. In particular, the expansion of nearby residential areas and the development of industrial complexes led to a rapid increase in traffic volume, which continuously highlighted the need for road expansion.

With the opening of this road, travel time across the approximately 1.3 km section is expected to be greatly reduced, thereby enhancing convenience for residents.

The road was designed to include sidewalks for pedestrians and bicycle lanes, and traffic lights and intersection facilities were reinforced to improve traffic safety. As a result, the road not only facilitates smoother local traffic flow but also ensures pedestrian safety. Trees and green spaces were created on both sides of the road to enhance the city’s eco-friendliness.

Changwon Special City plans to continue improving the quality of life for local residents and revitalizing the regional economy by maintaining the road and ensuring ongoing safety management even after its opening.

Jang Geumyong, acting mayor of Changwon Special City, stated, "With the opening of the road between Jaeun 3 District and Pungho-dong, we expect transportation convenience for local residents to be greatly improved," adding, "We will continue to do our best to build resident-centered transportation infrastructure in the future."
