Gyeonggi Province Expands Support for Isolated and Reclusive Youth... Applications Open from June 9

Gyeonggi Province will significantly expand the number of participants eligible for its support project to help isolated and reclusive youth restore their daily lives, increasing the target to 500 people. Starting from June 9, the province will recruit 300 participants for the first round.

The support project for isolated and reclusive youth was first introduced last year as an initiative proposed directly by young people through the Gyeonggi Youth Participation Organization.

Under the name "With Me, A World Worth Seeing," Gyeonggi Province provided psychological counseling and daily life recovery programs last year to 206 isolated and reclusive youth and their families.

This year, the province will more than double the number of beneficiaries and offer customized programs, including counseling, work experience, companion animal volunteering, and week-long stays in local communities.

The program is open to isolated and reclusive youth aged 19 to 39 residing in the province. Those wishing to participate can apply from June 9 to June 20 via the Gyeonggi Youth Portal (youth.gg.go.kr) or by scanning the QR code on the promotional poster.

The 300 selected participants will receive an initial consultation from a professional counselor, after which they will take part in in-depth counseling and daily life recovery programs according to their needs and conditions. Even after completing the program, participants can continue to receive support for daily life recovery through self-help groups, shelters for isolated and reclusive youth, and connections to other projects.

Counseling and programs will be conducted at four hub institutions: two locations in Suwon (Paldal-gu), one in Seongnam (Bundang-gu), and one in Uijeongbu (Uijeongbu 1-dong).

However, if participants wish, services can be provided remotely, and counseling is also available at nearby youth centers. The hub institutions will also serve as shelters for isolated and reclusive youth, and any isolated or reclusive youth?regardless of participation in the support project?may visit to read or rest.
