Incheon Airport Corporation and Korea Institute of Nuclear Nonproliferation and Control Cooperate to Respond to Threats Against Critical National Infrastructure

Mutual Support for Counterterrorism and Physical Protection at Airports and Nuclear Facilities

Incheon International Airport Corporation announced on the 5th that it had signed the "Memorandum of Understanding on Counterterrorism and Physical Protection Mutual Support for Responding to Illegal Interference with Airport Facilities and Threats to Nuclear Facilities" with the Korea Institute of Nuclear Nonproliferation and Control.

The signing ceremony, held on the same day at the corporation's Immigration Countermeasures Team, was attended by Jo Wooho, Head of Aviation Security at the corporation, Go Munsung, Director of Nuclear Security at the Korea Institute of Nuclear Nonproliferation and Control, and other officials.


Through this agreement, the two organizations have decided to establish a mutual cooperation system to protect lives and property and prevent damage from threats such as terrorism and illegal interference targeting critical national infrastructure. Specifically, they will strengthen cooperation through technical support and information sharing to effectively respond to illegal activities such as the recent increase in unauthorized drone flights. In addition, they will regularly communicate and consult to develop detailed measures, including risk assessments in the field of physical protection and risk assessments in the field of aviation security.


At the same time, the corporation plans to further strengthen its flawless counterterrorism and security posture at airport facilities. It will also expand agreements with other organizations that operate critical national infrastructure.


Lee Hakjae, President of the corporation, said, "We will further solidify the response system against illegal activities and threats targeting Incheon Airport, a critical national facility, and provide safer and more convenient airport services to the public."
