Jeonnam Office of Education Holds GED Certificate Award Ceremony

From a 73-Year-Old Lifelong Learner to Naturalized Immigrants
"Realizing Education Where Everyone Becomes the Subject of Learning"

The Jeonnam Office of Education held the '2025 First GED Certificate Award Ceremony for Elementary, Middle, and High School Graduates' in the large conference room on the 2nd floor of the government building on the 5th, congratulating the successful candidates who have achieved the fruits of lifelong learning.


This ceremony was organized to share the joy of passing the exam with those who have diverse backgrounds, such as adult learners who never lost their passion for learning and candidates with migrant backgrounds. About 60 people, including successful candidates, their families, and acquaintances, attended the event and shared a warm moment of encouragement.

Na Mo (73), who passed the high school GED at the age of 73 this year, said, "Today, I am a young person who has just graduated from high school," and added, "I will once again pursue my childhood dream of entering law school with renewed vigor," receiving a big round of applause from the attendees.


Lee Mo, a naturalized citizen originally from China, drew attention by passing the elementary and middle school GED exams in 2024 and then passing the high school GED this year as well. He expressed his feelings by saying, "I was deeply impressed by Jeonnam's stable educational system and the variety of educational opportunities," and added, "I want to live as a proud member of Korean society in the future."


Superintendent Kim Daejung stated, "The GED is not just about obtaining an academic qualification, but a precious journey of becoming the master of one's own life," and added, "We will continue to realize educational welfare that guarantees learning opportunities for everyone."


Meanwhile, in the first GED exam administered by the Jeonnam Office of Education this year, 800 people took the test and 582 people, or 72.8%, ultimately passed.
