"Specialized Small Schools"... Recruitment for the Second Semester Begins

The Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education participated in the '2025 Seoul Ecological Transition Education Festival,' held on June 5 in the area around Seoul Upcycling Plaza in Seongdong-gu, Seoul, to promote the Jeonnam rural agricultural and fishing village study abroad program.

This event was organized to introduce Jeonnam's rural study abroad program to elementary, middle, and high school students and their parents in Seoul, and to provide on-site counseling opportunities for recruiting students for the second semester of this year. At the promotional booth operated at the event, the Office introduced the purpose and educational value of the Jeonnam rural study abroad program, as well as unique programs by region, and offered customized counseling to interested parents and students.

In particular, they provided detailed information on living conditions, academic management methods, and regional characteristics of the program, which are areas of interest for prospective students. They also helped deepen understanding by sharing testimonials and case studies from current students through videos and printed materials.

The Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education plans to use this event as an opportunity to raise awareness of rural study abroad programs among Seoul residents and to accelerate recruitment efforts for the second semester of the 2025 academic year, which begins in September. In addition, the Office will continue to strengthen unique programs such as talent exploration, K-culture, and ecological experiences offered at Jeonnam's small schools, and will expand in-person promotions and briefings targeting other cities and provinces, including the Seoul metropolitan area.

Shim Chisuk, Director of the Division of Educational Autonomy, stated, "The Jeonnam rural study abroad program provides Seoul citizens with an opportunity to experience a new educational alternative through various programs centered on specialized small schools," adding, "We will continue to actively promote the value of this program in the future."
