Seek Prompt Treatment for Suspected Symptoms Such as High Fever and Rash
The Hongseong County Health Center in South Chungcheong Province has urged the public to strictly adhere to personal preventive measures, such as handwashing and proper cough etiquette, to prevent the spread of scarlet fever.
According to the County Health Center, scarlet fever is transmitted through direct contact with respiratory secretions from an infected person, or indirectly via hands or contaminated objects.
If a child is diagnosed with scarlet fever, they should not attend group facilities such as daycare centers, kindergartens, or schools for at least 24 hours after starting antibiotic treatment, in order to prevent group infections.
Additionally, in group facilities where young children who are particularly vulnerable to infection spend time, even stricter preventive management is required. It is important to teach proper handwashing and cough etiquette as part of daily routines to prevent scarlet fever, and to regularly disinfect frequently touched toys and educational materials.
Jung Youngrim, Director of the County Health Center, stated, "Scarlet fever is a highly contagious infectious disease. If your child shows suspicious symptoms such as high fever or rash, please visit a medical institution promptly for examination, and strictly follow personal hygiene practices such as handwashing."
