Jinan County Urges COVID-19 Vaccinations Amid Concerns of Resurgence

Practice Cough Etiquette and Handwashing:
Essential Preventive Measures

Jinan County in North Jeolla Province announced on June 5 that it is urging residents to follow preventive measures and receive vaccinations in preparation for a potential resurgence of COVID-19 during the summer.

According to the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency, the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases has been steadily increasing in Greater China and Southeast Asia. While the domestic situation remains relatively stable, there are concerns about a possible resurgence in the summer due to imported cases from abroad.

The county emphasized the importance of consistently practicing basic preventive measures to prevent various respiratory infectious diseases, including COVID-19. These measures include practicing proper cough etiquette, making handwashing a regular habit, avoiding touching the eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands, ventilating indoor spaces frequently, wearing masks when necessary, and visiting medical institutions if experiencing fever or respiratory symptoms.

In particular, the county stressed that vaccination is especially important for high-risk groups, such as seniors aged 65 and older, immunocompromised individuals aged six months and older, and residents of facilities vulnerable to infection. COVID-19 vaccinations for these groups will be extended and available until June 30.

Vaccinations can be received at designated entrusted medical institutions or the Jinan County Public Health Center without prior reservation. Residents can check which medical institutions offer vaccinations through the 'Vaccination Helper' website or by contacting the public health center.

Moon Minsu, Director of the Jinan County Public Health Center, stated, "COVID-19 remains an infectious disease with the potential for resurgence, so it is important to make preventive measures a part of daily life. I especially urge high-risk groups to receive vaccinations, and the public health center will do its utmost to protect the health of county residents."
