Czech Government Announces Final Nuclear Power Plant Contract Signed with KHNP

The Czech government announced on June 4 (local time) that it had signed the final contract with Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power (KHNP) for the construction of a new nuclear power plant at Dukovany.

According to major foreign media outlets, Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala made this announcement after the Supreme Administrative Court lifted the injunction that had prohibited the signing of the contract.

It is reported that KHNP and Dukovany II Nuclear Power Plant Company (EDU II), a subsidiary of Czech energy company CEZ and the project owner, signed the final contract electronically.

KHNP and EDU II had originally planned to sign the final contract on May 7, but the signing was canceled due to the injunction. The Czech government had previously given CEZ prior approval to sign the final contract as soon as the court lifted the injunction.
