Presidential Election 9 a.m. Turnout at 9.2%... Daegu 'Highest', Gwangju 'Lowest'

As of 9:00 a.m. on June 3, the voter turnout for the 21st presidential election was provisionally tallied at 9.2%.

According to the website of the National Election Commission, as of 9:00 a.m. on this day, 4,093,625 out of a total of 44,391,871 eligible voters had cast their ballots.


This figure is 1.1 percentage points higher than the turnout at the same time during the 20th presidential election in 2022 (8.1%), and 2.3 percentage points higher than the turnout during the 22nd general election last year (6.9%).


By region, Daegu recorded the highest turnout at 11.5%, while Gwangju had the lowest at 6.3%.


During the early voting held on May 29 and 30, Daegu had the lowest early voting rate at 25.63%, but is now showing a high turnout in the main vote.


In contrast, Gwangju and Jeonnam (6.6%) and Jeonbuk (6.8%), which had high early voting rates, are currently showing relatively low turnout.


Turnout in other regions was as follows: Seoul 8.5%, Busan 8.1%, Incheon 9.3%, Daejeon 10.0%, Gyeonggi Province 9.8%, Gyeongbuk 10.9%, Gyeongnam 9.9%, and Jeju 8.4%.


Turnout from early voting, as well as overseas voting, shipboard voting, and absentee voting, will be included in the figures released starting from the 1:00 p.m. update.


The voter turnout published every hour on the National Election Commission website is based on data collected nationwide 10 minutes prior to the hour.
