458 CCTVs and LED Information Signs Installed This Year
On June 2, the city of Anseong in Gyeonggi Province announced that it has completed a project to upgrade the performance of crime prevention CCTVs and replace information signs in order to prevent crime and create a safer urban environment.
The city explained that this year alone, it invested 520 million won to replace a total of 458 devices at 366 locations, including 208 outdated cameras with low image quality and 250 information signs with poor nighttime visibility, with high-definition CCTVs and LED information signs.
In particular, the city installed high-performance vehicle surveillance CCTVs with over 5-megapixel resolution on major roads with heavy traffic, enabling the simultaneous recognition of multiple license plates even on multi-lane roads.
Through this project, the city also replaced information signs at 1,310 locations?equivalent to 84% of all 1,562 crime prevention CCTV sites?with LED information signs. These LED signs are expected to be highly visible even at night, helping to deter criminal intent and alleviate citizens' anxiety.
Taking this project as an opportunity, the city plans to strengthen its 24-hour integrated surveillance system with the CCTV Control Center and take proactive measures to prevent crime. A city official stated, "We will continue to reinforce the social safety net so that we can create an urban environment where anyone would want to live."
