The Family of the Late Professor Kim Hangun Donates 10 Million Won in Scholarships to the University

The family of the late Honorary Professor Kim Hangun at Pukyong National University (President Bae Sanghoon) has warmed the hearts of many by donating a scholarship to the university in his name.

On June 2, Pukyong National University held a scholarship presentation ceremony for the late Honorary Professor Kim Hangun in the reception room on the third floor of the university headquarters.

On this day, the bereaved family, including Kim Jungil and Kim Sungil, sons of the late Honorary Professor Kim Hangun, delivered 10 million won to President Bae Sanghoon, requesting that it be used as scholarships for students majoring in Metallurgical Engineering in the College of Engineering, which was the late professor’s department.

Honorary Professor Kim Hangun, who joined Pukyong National University in 1978 and retired in 2013, devoted more than 30 years to education and research as an expert in new materials, including metal surface heat treatment, and passed away in April this year.

In particular, starting in 1984, he set aside a portion of his monthly salary each month to provide scholarships for his students, donating a total of 10 million won by the time he retired, thereby demonstrating his dedication to his students.

Kim Jungil and Kim Sungil, sons of the late Honorary Professor Kim Hangun, said, "Our entire family was well aware of our father's devotion to his students. We hope that both our family's wish to honor him and his own intentions will continue to be carried on in the department."

Pukyong National University plans to name the donation from the bereaved family the 'Late Honorary Professor Kim Hangun Scholarship' and use it as scholarships for current students majoring in Metallurgical Engineering.
