On June 2, thirty employees from the Agricultural Policy Division, Resident Safety Division, and Population Policy Office of Goryeong County visited a garlic field in Oe-ri, Daegaya-eup to assist with farm work. On this day, the staff supported the farm’s harvest operations by helping with tasks such as removing garlic stems and packing the garlic in nets.
Goryeong County explained that, as the population ages and rural labor shortages worsen, the need for manpower support to ensure timely harvests during the farming season is growing. The purpose of this volunteer activity goes beyond simple assistance; it is also intended to gather firsthand feedback from the field and use it as basic data for developing practical solutions.
A farm representative expressed gratitude, saying, “The help from county office employees during the busy harvest season was a great support.” Employees who participated in the volunteer work also said, “Although it was a short time, it was rewarding to be able to contribute to the farm.”
Goryeong County plans to continue these ongoing farm labor support activities in the future to help maintain a stable production base for local agriculture.
