Guri City Holds Naming Contest... Online Applications Open from June 2
Baek Kyunghyun: "Will Develop as a Complex City Integrating Work, Residence, and Leisure"
Guri City in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Baek Kyunghyun) announced on June 2 that it will hold a public contest to decide the name of the Guritopyeong 2 Public Housing District, which was announced as a new housing site candidate by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport in November 2023.
This contest aims to create a name that is easy for anyone to remember and use, reflecting the characteristics and conditions of the Guritopyeong 2 Public Housing District area, such as its location along the Han River, its concept as a self-sufficient city, and its integration of work, residence, and leisure. The city expects that this contest will help raise citizens' interest in the designation of the district.
From June 2, applications can be submitted online via the banner at the top left of the Guri City website or by scanning a QR code. Entries will be evaluated in the first and second rounds based on several criteria: whether the name fits the development direction of the Guritopyeong 2 Public Housing District, whether it can be flexibly used in various situations, how new and creative it is, and whether it is easy to remember and pronounce. The final winners will be awarded the Grand Prize, Excellence Prize, and Encouragement Prize.
Baek Kyunghyun, Mayor of Guri City, said, "We are holding this contest to select a name that embodies the identity and future value of the Guritopyeong 2 Public Housing District, so we hope that many interested citizens will participate." He added, "The city will make every effort to proceed with the administrative procedures for designating the Guritopyeong 2 Public Housing District in the second half of this year, and we will do our best to develop it as a complex city where work, residence, and leisure coexist in the future."
