HD Hyundai to Attend "Nor-Shipping 2025" with Full Executive Team Including Chung Ki-sun

Presenting a Future Vision for the Decarbonization of the Sea
Expectations for Expanded Cooperation with Various Organizations and Groups

HD Hyundai is participating in the world's largest shipbuilding and marine exhibition to present its future vision for the "decarbonization of the sea." The event will see the full attendance of the group's top management, including HD Hyundai Senior Vice Chairman Chung Ki-sun, HD Hyundai Heavy Industries CEO Lee Sang-kyun, and HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering Future Technology Research Institute Director Jang Kwang-pil, as the company aims to intensively target the global market with an all-hands-on-deck approach.

HD Hyundai announced that it will take part in "Nor-Shipping 2025," which will be held in Oslo, Norway from June 3 to 6. The exhibition will feature participation from around 800 companies from 47 countries, and is expected to attract more than 30,000 global visitors.

HD Hyundai has set the core theme of "Nor-Shipping 2025" as securing leadership in global shipbuilding and marine industry decarbonization technology, and plans to discuss ways to expand cooperation with various organizations and groups during the exhibition. First, the company will receive Approval in Principle (AIP) from the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) for its independently developed next-generation high-pressure dual-fuel (ME-GI) propulsion LNG carrier's cargo handling and fuel system. This system is expected to significantly contribute to minimizing cargo loss and enhancing operational efficiency and economic performance for shipowners by compressing and re-supplying boil-off gas (Boil-off Gas), replacing the conventional cryogenic high-pressure compressor.

Additionally, HD Hyundai will sign a memorandum of understanding with French engineering company GTT for the joint development of a trapezoidal membrane cargo tank. This cargo tank is a new-concept structure designed to utilize the bow area in line with the hull shape, which is expected to not only ensure cargo stability but also optimize the transportable volume, thereby further improving vessel operational efficiency.

The company will also expand cooperation with global classification societies for technology development. HD Hyundai plans to jointly develop a hybrid LNG carrier based on high-efficiency solid oxide fuel cells (SOFC), which help provide stable output, in collaboration with Lloyd's Register (LR) of the United Kingdom. HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering and HD Hyundai Heavy Industries will be responsible for developing the SOFC-based hybrid propulsion system and the basic design of the LNG carrier, while Lloyd's Register will provide technical consulting.

HD Hyundai will also propose policies for the decarbonization of the sea. The company will become the first Korean shipbuilder to sign a strategic partnership with the Maersk Mc-Kinney Moller Center for Zero Carbon Shipping (MMMCZCS), a nonprofit research institution leading the decarbonization of the global shipping industry. MMMCZCS, which works with over 90 partners worldwide including Maersk, develops decarbonization fuel technologies and wields significant influence in the international shipping industry, even leading the establishment of regulations by the International Maritime Organization (IMO). Through this agreement, HD Hyundai plans to actively participate in the creation of regulations and the establishment of international policies for key decarbonization technologies such as eco-friendly fuel transition and maximizing energy efficiency to reduce carbon emissions.
