Korean Intellectual Property Office and Beautiful Store Foundation to Host "Good Idea Competition"

The Korean Intellectual Property Office announced on June 2 that it will jointly host the "2025 Good Idea Competition" with the Beautiful Store Foundation from June 2 to July 7.

The competition is being held to solicit creative ideas to address challenges faced by three social enterprises: Equaltable, Social Core, and Kokkiri Gongjang.

Equaltable is seeking ideas for a "Tomorrow's Coffee Pop-up Store that Builds Relationships with People." Social Core is looking for group activity programs using "Bologi (a portable braille printer)." Kokkiri Gongjang is collecting ideas for "methods of connecting toy parts made of metal without screws."

Anyone in Korea can participate in the competition. Ideas can be submitted through the Korean Intellectual Property Office's platform "Idearo." The Korean Intellectual Property Office and the Beautiful Store Foundation will review the submitted ideas and select a total of nine teams, with up to three teams per challenge, to advance to the finals.

Depending on the type of challenge, the finalist ideas will receive support programs to further develop and refine their concepts. The final presentations and awards ceremony are scheduled to take place in August following a judging process.

The nine final winning teams (individuals or groups) will receive awards from the Commissioner of the Korean Intellectual Property Office, the Chairperson of the Beautiful Store Foundation, and the President of the Korea Invention Promotion Association. Outstanding idea contributors will have the opportunity to sell and license their ideas to companies for a set amount.

For more information about the competition, inquiries can be made to the Korea Invention Promotion Association or by visiting the Idearo platform.

Deputy Commissioner Mok Seongho of the Korean Intellectual Property Office stated, "This competition is being planned and promoted to bring together social enterprises and the public to solve public issues collaboratively," adding, "The Korean Intellectual Property Office will spare no effort to support the transformation of the public's ingenious ideas into solutions for social problems."
