"If We Miss This Opportunity, Restoring Liberal Democracy and a Normal State Will Be Impossible"
On May 31, former President Yoon Sukyeol appealed for support for Kim Moonsoo, the People Power Party's presidential candidate, through a message read aloud at a Gwanghwamun rally led by Pastor Jeon Kwanghoon.
In the statement delivered by Lee Dongho, former full-time deputy director of the Yeouido Institute, Yoon said, "In order to protect this country's liberal democracy and restore the nation to normalcy, I earnestly ask you to go to the polls on June 3 and give your support to candidate Kim Moonsoo."
He continued, "If you vote for Kim Moonsoo, he will become president and will be able to safeguard the country's freedom and future. If we miss this opportunity, we will have to pay too much in terms of time and sacrifice, and it may become impossible to restore liberal democracy and a normal state."
He added, "If we unite with one heart and one mind, muster our courage, and combine our strength, we can protect our freedom and sovereignty. Right now, the only answer is to gather our strength behind Kim Moonsoo."
