All-Out Campaign Along the East Coast Amid Low Early Voting Turnout
On this day, Kim held intensive rallies in Hongcheon, Sokcho, Gangneung, and Donghae in Gangwon Province. He then traveled along the east coast to Uljin and Pohang in North Gyeongsang Province, focusing on consolidating the party’s traditional support base. His final rally will be held in Gyeongju. All of these areas are constituencies held by the People Power Party, and this was Kim’s first visit to them during the campaign period.
During his rally in Sokcho, Kim stated, "June 3 will be the day we make Korean democracy even greater and break the 'Bulletproof Monster' and 'Dictator-in-Chief.' Please vote properly."
At the Gangneung rally, he said, "Those who do not vote have no right to speak about democracy," adding, "There are also people who vote but choose strange candidates."
He then targeted candidate Lee Jaemyung and his wife, tearing up an A4 sheet printed with the image of a corporate credit card.
At Kim’s campaign events that day, local National Assembly members gathered in support.
Kim introduced Representative Yoo Sangbum (Hongcheon, Hoengseong, Yeongwol, and Pyeongchang in Gangwon Province) by saying, "His older brother is Minister Yoo Sangim, and his younger brother is actor Yoo Ohsung. The three brothers are a very successful family." He promised, "I will do 100% of what Yoo Sangbum says."
In Gangneung, referring to Kwon Seongdong, the five-term lawmaker and joint election committee chair as well as floor leader, Kim said, "You have elected him for five four-year terms, but he is a servant, and you, the voters, are the masters." He added, "Please elect me as well so that I can serve as your servant."
Kim also paid his respects to the Navy personnel who died in the crash of a Navy patrol aircraft near Pohang Gyeongju Airport that day. On June 1, he will campaign in the Seoul and Gyeonggi regions.
