With only three days left until the 21st presidential election, both ruling and opposition parties have launched their final campaign rallies in Gwangju and Jeonnam. They are making use of the weekend and holidays to encourage participation in the main vote and are focusing on securing the last remaining votes.

The Gwangju-Jeonnam provincial chapters of the Democratic Party will hold intensive rallies on May 31 and June 1 over two days to consolidate support for candidate Lee Jae Myung. On this day, Park Ji Won, co-chair of the election committee, will join lawmakers Park Kyuntaek and Kim Wonyi for joint rallies in Gwangsan District, Gwangju, and Mokpo, Jeonnam. The Democratic Party plans to appeal to voters via phone calls, text messages, and social media, urging them to unite behind Lee for the end of insurrection and the protection of constitutional government.


On June 2, the day before the main vote, eight Democratic Party lawmakers from the Gwangju area are scheduled to hold a joint press conference to urge voter participation. The Democratic Party is aiming for a 90% vote share in Gwangju and Jeonnam in this presidential election.

The Gwangju-Jeonnam provincial chapters of the People Power Party also plan to appeal for last-minute support for candidate Kim Moonsoo in areas such as Gwangju, Damyang, and Yeosu. At the campaign sites, they highlight allegations related to Democratic Party candidate Lee Jae Myung's family and emphasize the message, "Gather your votes for a clean candidate."

Due to a lack of campaign funds, the Reform New Party is operating only five large campaign vehicles nationwide, with one of them deployed in Gwangju. The Gwangju chapter plans to use this campaign vehicle to travel throughout the city during the weekend and holidays, appealing for support for candidate Lee Junseok.

The Democratic Labor Party's provincial chapter will campaign for candidate Kwon Youngguk in areas such as the Jeungsimsa area of Mudeungsan, Mokpo, and Muan. They plan to emphasize workers' rights and a society without discrimination, seeking support from progressive voters.
