The first "Salon de Sajik" has opened in the Sajik-dong area of Nam-gu, Gwangju, as part of an ongoing initiative to create a retro-style cultural and artistic space.

According to Nam-gu on May 30, the Acoustic Guitar & Gugak Salon, the first result of the Salon de Sajik project, has been welcoming visitors to Sajik-dong since May 28.

This salon, which specializes in musical elements, is located near Sajik Mansion. A vacant house has been renovated into a space where visitors can experience traditional culture, and at least once every quarter, performances of traditional Korean music (Gugak) and acoustic guitar are held. Inside the salon, guests can also enjoy local Gwangju cuisine and homemade traditional liquors.

The Acoustic Guitar & Gugak Salon is expected to serve as a hub for creating cultural value rooted in tradition and for revitalizing the local community culture. In addition, a youth salon, an analog photo studio, a storage facility, and a gallery salon are also scheduled to open within the year.

As for the gallery salon, remodeling work has been underway since June last year and is now nearing completion. The analog photo studio and the storage facility, which will house various records and documents, are expected to be completed around next month. These three spaces will open after a process of recruiting operators.

The humanities salon, Nokseong Sanghoe, will begin full-scale development after completing remodeling design services by next month. Since this salon is being created by utilizing a building with modern historical and preservation value, it is expected to emerge as a remarkable space reflecting the diverse voices of the local community.

An official from the district stated, "Once the various salons featuring music, humanities, and more open around the one-and-only Sajik-dong Time Post Office currently under development in Korea, a variety of experiences and attractions will be available. This will not only help establish Sajik-dong as a tourist destination but will also greatly contribute to revitalizing the old city center."
