Press Conference at Cheonan City Hall...
"This Election Is to End the Rebellion"
On the 30th, Kang Geumsil, the overall election committee chairperson of the Democratic Party, encouraged voting at the Cheonan City Hall briefing room.
On May 30, Kang Geumsil, the overall election committee chairperson of the Democratic Party, visited Cheonan, South Chungcheong Province, and appealed for voter participation.
On this day, Kang held a press conference at the Cheonan City Hall briefing room and stated, "I came to South Chungcheong Province, which has led past presidential elections, to reaffirm our determination for the election and to ask the people of the province to make a wise decision that reads the spirit of the times."
She went on to say, "This election is to bring an end to the rebellion. If the Democratic Party does not win, it will not simply be a defeat for a party or for candidate Lee Jaemyung as an individual, but could be a defeat for history itself."
She further emphasized, "In the past, people voted for party candidates in presidential elections, but in this early election triggered by the rebellion, we must vote on whether the constitutional order can be restored, regardless of progressive or conservative lines. This is why key figures from the People Power Party and previous conservative governments are participating in the Democratic Party's campaign."
Regarding the outlook for the election and the possibility of unification of candidates, she said, "We cannot be at ease until the very end. Because it could be a defeat for the history of democracy, we are staying tense until the last moment," and predicted, "Unification of candidates will not affect the election."
Meanwhile, on May 29, the first day of early voting, Kang visited Cheongju, North Chungcheong Province, to encourage voting.
