Lee Jae Myung, the Democratic Party presidential candidate, stated that while there should be no political retaliation or oppression, basic justice must not be abandoned. Regarding ongoing investigations, he emphasized that thorough investigations and punishments are necessary, clarifying that he does not intend to grant unconditional leniency.
On the 29th, during a live broadcast on the YouTube channel 'Maebulshow,' Lee said, "Some people say that if someone talks about rational governance without division or political retaliation, it means everything will be overlooked, but that is not the case," adding, "We must do what needs to be done, but it should not be excessive."
He also reiterated his position on the 'reinvestigation of Deutsche Motors' involving First Lady Kim Keon Hee. Lee pointed out, "Stock price manipulation causes suffering to many people and takes away their assets, so those involved in such collective crimes must be held accountable," and added, "Saying that we should let someone off easily just because the crime was committed by a political opponent is not reconciliation. Healing and integration are different things."
He continued, "We must never allow stock price manipulation to go unpunished. We need to show that those who profit from such acts can lose more than they gained," and argued, "In cases of abuse of control, the Democratic Party should pass the amendment to the Commercial Act and not exercise a veto. If we fix the system this way, in my opinion, even a KOSPI index of 4,000 is easily achievable."
Additionally, during a conversation about the stock market, Lee said, "'Lee Jae Myung theme stocks' have nothing to do with me. Just because a particular company is rumored to have a connection with me, I would not grant it any special favors," and added, "On the contrary, I would rather disadvantage them to avoid any misunderstandings."
