Acting President Lee on Pohang Navy Patrol Plane Crash: "Rescue of Passengers Is Top Priority" Jooho Lee Acting Director Yonhap News Agency

On May 29 at 2:30 p.m., Acting President and Deputy Prime Minister Jooho Lee, who also serves as Minister of Education, received a briefing from Sunho Kim, Acting Minister of National Defense, regarding the P-3 Navy aircraft accident that occurred in Pohang. He instructed that the passengers be rescued as quickly as possible.


Acting President Lee emphasized, "Make the rescue of the passengers the top priority, and do your utmost to promptly investigate the damage so that any further harm can be prevented."


According to the Navy and fire authorities, at around 1:50 p.m. that day, a maritime patrol aircraft operated by the Navy crashed in a wooded area near Pohang Airport in Sinjeong-ri, Donghae-myeon, Nam-gu, Pohang, North Gyeongsang Province.


The aircraft involved in the accident was a P-3C maritime patrol plane, and there were four people on board at the time of the crash.
