Daejeon City is strengthening its status as a "special baseball city" by hosting the reality baseball entertainment program "Bulkkot Baseball."

On May 29, Daejeon City announced that it had signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) at City Hall with Studio Siwon, a content production company, and Gukdae Co., a sports ESG company, for the hosting of Bulkkot Baseball and the operation of a dedicated stadium.

Under the agreement, Daejeon City will be responsible for leasing Hanbat Baseball Stadium, which is currently closed for remodeling, as well as providing administrative support. Studio Siwon will handle both the production of the broadcast content and the promotion of Daejeon City. Gukdae Co. will oversee all on-site operations related to Bulkkot Baseball.

Hanbat Baseball Stadium will be used exclusively for Studio Siwon's popular reality baseball show Bulkkot Baseball. The program features retired legendary players facing off against top high school, college, and independent baseball teams from across the country. The "Bulkkot Fighters," led by manager Seonggeun Kim and including players such as Daeho Lee and Dustin Nippert, play games every Monday. The matches are streamed live on Studio Siwon's YouTube channel, with the first episode airing on May 5.

The city expects that this agreement will not only enable the efficient use of Hanbat Baseball Stadium, which became vacant after the opening of Daejeon Hanwha Life Ballpark earlier this year, but also generate ripple effects across various sectors such as tourism, consumption, and the media industry through collaboration with a popular entertainment program.

Daejeon Mayor Jangwoo Lee stated, "With the Hanwha Eagles' strong performance at the top of the league, the opening of Daejeon Hanwha Life Ballpark, the hosting of the KBO All-Star Game, and now the addition of a dedicated stadium for Bulkkot Baseball, Daejeon is truly establishing itself as a city of baseball. The dedicated stadium will not only serve as a filming location but will also emerge as a new tourist attraction for Daejeon, contributing to the revitalization of the local economy."

Meanwhile, Daejeon City opened the new "Daejeon Hanwha Life Ballpark" in March for the first time in 61 years, and the KBO All-Star Game is scheduled to be held in Daejeon on July 11-12.
