Hong Seonghyun, Chairman of the Chungnam Provincial Council, participated in the relay campaign for the one million signature movement urging the construction of a civilian-only runway at Cheongju Airport in North Chungcheong Province.

On the morning of May 29, Chairman Hong joined the signature campaign at the provincial council, holding a placard with the slogan "Connecting Beyond Regions, Uniting the Nation! Construction of a Civilian-Only Runway at Cheongju Airport." He emphasized the necessity of expanding Cheongju Airport's infrastructure and expressed his commitment to the joint development of the Chungcheong region.

Chairman Hong stated, "Expanding the metropolitan transportation network is essential for achieving balanced national development," and added, "The runway at Cheongju Airport in North Chungcheong Province is a key foundation for connecting the Chungcheong region, and the Chungnam Provincial Council is strongly committed to supporting this direction."

Cheongju Airport is a major transportation hub with high accessibility from South Chungcheong Province. If a civilian-only runway is newly established, it is expected to bring significant practical benefits for regional development, such as improved transportation convenience and an expanded living sphere.

Meanwhile, since the start of the signature campaign in April, more than 240,000 people had participated as of May 29. Relay campaigns involving cities, counties, local councils, and civic organizations, mainly centered around North Chungcheong Province, are continuing across various sectors.
