Booth Operated During University Festival from May 27 to 29
The Human Rights Center at National Pukyong University, led by Director Ham Hyehyun, operated the "University Student Human Rights Class" from May 27 to May 29, during the university's spring festival period.
National Pukyong University organized this event in collaboration with the Busan Nambu Police Station to enhance university students' sensitivity to human rights and to raise awareness about sexual harassment, dating violence, and stalking crimes.
Three police officers, including Police Officer Lee Dawon from the Busan Nambu Police Station, conducted an OX quiz at a booth set up in the main athletic field of National Pukyong University. Through this activity, they corrected students' misconceptions about the four major types of violence and provided personal counseling to help resolve individual concerns.
Police Officer Lee Dawon of the Nambu Police Station stated, "There are a total of four universities within our jurisdiction. Recently, cases of stalking and dating violence among people in their twenties have been reported, so we decided to visit universities directly and conduct a relay-style campaign as a preventive measure."
Ham Hyehyun, Director of the Human Rights Center at National Pukyong University, said, "This campaign is expected to serve as an opportunity for everyone to recognize that anyone can become either a perpetrator or a victim of relational crimes."
National Pukyong University and the Nambu Police Station plan to continue their academic-police cooperation in research to identify the actual conditions of crimes occurring among university students and to diagnose fundamental causes and promote prevention.
